I first found out that Richard, my step brother, had become an Islamist in a newspaper article. My initial reaction was one of disbelief – it had to be someone else, or a mistake…but it wasn’t. Rich was the newest recruit of a man dubbed by the media the most dangerous man in Britain, Anjem Choudary.
Tree surgeon-turned-filmmaker Robb Leech is an ordinary white middle-class boy from the Dorset seaside town of Weymouth. So too is his stepbrother Rich, but a little over a year ago Rich became a radical Islamist who now goes by the name of Salahuddin. Jagten på enhjørningen: Bilal Philips’ teologiske modstykke
Det er ikke let at finde hoved eller hale på mainstreammediernes placering af Bilal Philips inden for islamisk teologi, og det er selvfølgelig fordi der ikke er nogen. Philips betegnes i mange historier som “fundamentalistisk” eller som formet af “wahabismen”, med et ønske om “sharialovgivning”. Den rigtige, bøssevenlige islam er altid impliceret, aldrig nærmere udpeget.

Den islamiske djævel finder man kun i detaljen: De muslimske helligtekster er altså vitterligt bøssehadende, og i shariastyrede samfund vanker der den blodige henrettelse som Bilal Philips lige nu samler lidt enfoldig forargelse over at støtte – altså forargelse der uden risiko for at blive uanstændig kan rettes mod en person, og ikke mod dennes ideologi.
Siden journalister ikke kunne drømme om det, kunne man prøve at gøre deres arbejde for dem og se om man kan finde den ikke-tekstnære, ikke-shariastøttende islam der hvad lige homoseksualitet angår står i klar modsætning til Bilal Philips. Vi bragte for et par dage siden dokumentation for det teologiske fundament for islamisk homofobi med dertil hørende blodigheder. Kan man finde modsat rettede strømninger der kan gøre mindst lige så stærkt krav på at repræsentere den sande islam? Dét var den lille opgave vi prøvede at løse. Yderligere bekræftelse af det barbariske syn på homoseksuelle finder man uden videre ved googling:

Al-Azhar Cleric Farahat Said Al-Munji against Homosexuals and Sexual Education on TV – al-Azhar er som sikkert bekendt sunni-islams førende institution. Det er dog i modsætning hertil også let at finde omtale af organisationer af homoseksuelle muslimer, f. eks.: Dissident Sexualities: Muslim and Gay in the UK. Det er endda også muligt at finde imamer med tolerante synspunkter på homoseksuelle:

Dette er stadig langt fra det teologiske fundament for tolerance som vi prøver at indkredse, og desværre er det ikke lykkedes Snaphanen at komme nærmere svaret på hvordan man kommer uden om den lille hage med ‘blodige homofobiske islamiske tekster’ og ‘Muhammeds homofobiske eksempel’. Det nærmeste synes at være denne pludrende Bæk Simonsen’ske snak om “skiftende social kontekst” og “dynamiske processer” fra et medlem af en organisation for muslimske homoseksuelle:

Succeskriteriet for vores lille jagt må være at indkredse en stærk sunni-muslimsk retning eller teolog der af autoriteter som al-Azhar anerkendes som sand muslimsk, og som altså står for en tolkning af islam der ikke pålægger barbarisk afstraffelse af homoseksuelle. Måske har vi ikke søgt længe nok, eller denne retning gemmer sig rigtig godt for Google (LFPC).
